Byvano Setup Guide: From Install to First Sale in 10 Minutes
This is the fastest path from zero to live shoppable video on your ecommerce store. Follow these steps and you will have interactive, buyable video widgets driving sales in under 10 minutes.
What You Will Accomplish
By the end of this guide, you will have:
- A Byvano account with your social channels connected
- Videos imported from TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube (or uploaded directly)
- Products tagged inside your videos with buy links
- A live shoppable video widget on your ecommerce store
- Analytics tracking active so you can measure performance from day one
The entire process takes about 10 minutes. No coding is required. The free plan gives you everything you need to test and validate before investing further.
Before You Start: What You Need
Gather these items before beginning setup. Having everything ready will keep the process fast and smooth:
- An ecommerce store: Byvano works with Shopify, WooCommerce, Squarespace, BigCommerce, or any platform that supports custom embed codes. Your store should have at least a few products live with product page URLs.
- Video content: At least 3-5 short-form videos featuring your products. These can come from TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, or your camera roll. MP4 and WebM formats are supported for direct upload.
- Social account access (optional): If you want to import videos directly from your social channels, have login credentials ready for TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube.
- Product details: For each product you plan to tag, know the product name, price, and product page URL. If you use Shopify, Byvano can pull this automatically from your store.
Step 1: Create Your Byvano Account (1 minute)
Go to byvano.com/register and create your account. You will need an email address and password — that is it. No credit card is required for the free plan.
After registering, you will receive a verification email. Click the verification link to activate your account, then log in. You will land on the Byvano dashboard — your command center for managing videos, widgets, and analytics.
The dashboard has four main sections:
- Videos: Where you import, upload, and manage your video content
- Widgets: Where you create and configure shoppable video widgets for your store
- Connect: Where you link your social media accounts for video import
- Analytics: Where you track views, engagement, clicks, and conversions
Step 2: Connect Your Social Channels (2 minutes)
Navigate to the Connect page in your dashboard. Here you can link your TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube accounts. Each connection follows a standard OAuth flow — click the platform, authorize Byvano to access your public videos, and the connection is established.
Connecting YouTube
Click "Connect YouTube" and sign in with your Google account. Byvano requests read-only access to your public YouTube channel to import Shorts and videos. Once connected, your recent YouTube Shorts will appear in the import queue.
Connecting Instagram
Click "Connect Instagram" and authenticate with your Instagram account. Byvano connects through the Instagram Graph API to access your public Reels and posts. Note: you need an Instagram Business or Creator account for API access. Personal accounts are not supported by Instagram's API.
Connecting TikTok
Click "Connect TikTok" and authorize access. Byvano imports your publicly available TikTok videos for use in shoppable widgets.
Tip: You do not need to connect all three platforms. Even one connected social account is enough to get started. You can always add more later.
Alternative — Direct Upload: If you prefer not to connect social accounts, skip this step entirely. In Step 3, you can upload video files directly from your device.
Step 3: Import or Upload Videos (2 minutes)
Go to the Videos section of your dashboard. If you connected social accounts, you will see an "Import" option that lists your recent videos from each platform. Select 3-5 videos that best showcase your products and click Import. The videos will be added to your Byvano video library within seconds.
For direct upload, click the "Upload" button and select MP4 or WebM files from your device. You can drag and drop multiple files at once. Videos up to 100 MB are supported on the free plan.
Which videos to choose: For your first setup, prioritize videos that clearly feature your best-selling products. Product demonstrations, try-on videos, unboxing clips, and customer testimonials work best. Avoid videos that are purely entertaining without a clear product focus — those drive views but not conversions. For more guidance on video selection, read our post on UGC video strategy.
Step 4: Tag Products in Your Videos (3 minutes)
This is where the magic happens. Open any video in your library and enter the product tagging interface. You will see your video playing with a timeline below it and a product tag panel on the side.
How to Add a Product Tag
Click "Add Product Tag" to create a new tag. Fill in the product details:
- Product name: The display name that appears on the tag overlay
- Price: The current price shown to viewers
- Product URL: The link to the product page on your store where customers can purchase
- Product image: An optional thumbnail image for the tag popup
If you have connected a Shopify store, Byvano can auto-populate product details from your Shopify catalog — just search for the product name and select it.
Positioning the Tag
Drag the tag to the position on the video frame where the product is visible. The tag will appear as a small, non-intrusive icon that viewers can click to see product details. Position it near (but not on top of) the product itself — this keeps the video viewable while making the tag easy to find.
Best practice: Use 1-3 product tags per video. More than 3 creates visual clutter and reduces click-through rates. Focus on the hero product and only add secondary tags for prominently featured supporting items.
Repeat this process for each of your imported videos. With practice, tagging a video takes under 30 seconds.
Step 5: Create Your First Widget (1 minute)
Navigate to the Widgets section and click "Create Widget." You will be asked to choose a widget type:
- Carousel: A horizontal scrolling row of video thumbnails. Best for: homepages, collection pages. This is the most popular first widget — it is visually striking and works on every page type.
- Grid: A multi-column layout showing multiple videos at once. Best for: dedicated landing pages, lookbook pages.
- Stories: Circular thumbnails that open into a full-screen vertical stories experience. Best for: top of any page, mimics the Instagram Stories format your customers already love.
- Floating: A small video bubble in the corner of the screen. Best for: site-wide deployment, does not interfere with page layout.
- Inline: A single video player embedded within page content. Best for: product pages, blog posts.
Recommendation for your first widget: Start with a Carousel on your homepage. It is the highest-visibility placement, showcases multiple videos, and gives you the most engagement data to learn from.
Select which videos to include in the widget, customize the appearance (colors, border radius, dimensions) to match your store's design, and save. Our features page has previews of each widget type to help you decide.
Step 6: Deploy the Widget on Your Store (1 minute)
After saving your widget, Byvano generates an embed code — a lightweight JavaScript snippet. The deployment method depends on your ecommerce platform:
Shopify
If you installed the Byvano Shopify app, widgets deploy automatically through the Shopify theme editor. Go to Online Store, then Customize, and add the Byvano widget block to any section of any page. No code copying required.
Without the app, copy the embed code and paste it into a Custom Liquid section in your Shopify theme editor. This works on any Shopify theme.
WooCommerce
Copy the embed code and paste it into a Custom HTML block on any WordPress page or post. You can also add it to your theme template files for site-wide placement. See our WooCommerce integration guide for detailed instructions.
Squarespace, BigCommerce, and Others
Copy the embed code and paste it into a Code block (Squarespace) or Script Manager (BigCommerce). Any platform that supports custom HTML/JavaScript can run Byvano widgets. Our Squarespace guide covers the specific steps for that platform.
Step 7: Verify and Go Live
Visit your store in a new browser tab (or use incognito mode) and navigate to the page where you placed the widget. Verify the following:
- The widget loads and displays your video thumbnails
- Videos play when clicked or tapped
- Product tags are visible and correctly positioned
- Clicking a product tag opens the product detail overlay
- The "Buy" or product link navigates to the correct product page on your store
- The widget looks correct on both desktop and mobile
If everything checks out, you are live. Your store now has shoppable video. Visitors can watch your content, discover products, and click through to purchase — all within a seamless, interactive experience.
After Setup: Your First Week Checklist
The widget is live, but optimization starts now. Here is what to do in your first week:
- Day 1-2: Monitor analytics in your Byvano dashboard. Check that views, plays, and clicks are being recorded. This confirms the widget is functioning correctly.
- Day 3-4: Review which videos get the most plays and which product tags get the most clicks. If one video is significantly outperforming others, consider adding similar content.
- Day 5-7: Add a second widget to another page. If you started with a homepage carousel, add a stories widget to your top product page or a floating widget site-wide. More touchpoints mean more opportunities to convert.

Troubleshooting Common Issues
Widget is not appearing on my store
First, verify the embed code is pasted correctly — no missing characters or extra spaces. Second, check that the page is published (not in draft mode). Third, ensure your plan supports code injection (Squarespace Personal plan does not). If you are using Shopify's theme editor, make sure the Byvano block is saved and the theme is published.
Videos are not playing
Check that your videos were fully imported or uploaded — partially uploaded videos may appear as thumbnails but fail to play. Also check that your browser allows autoplay (most do for muted video, which Byvano uses by default). On iOS, videos always require a tap to start — this is an Apple restriction, not a Byvano limitation.
Product tags are not clickable
Ensure the product URL you entered is a valid, publicly accessible URL. Test the URL by pasting it into a browser. If the product page loads, the tag should work. If you are using Shopify product sync, verify the product is published and available in your online store sales channel.
Analytics are showing zero data
Analytics data can take up to 30 minutes to appear after the widget goes live. If data is still missing after an hour, check that the embed code is the latest version from your Byvano dashboard. Also ensure ad blockers are not preventing the analytics script from running — test in an incognito browser without extensions.
Tips for Getting Your First Sale Faster
Having the widget live is step one. Here are proven tactics to accelerate your first shoppable video sale:
- Place the widget above the fold. The higher on the page, the more visitors see it. If your carousel is below three scroll-lengths of content, most visitors will never reach it.
- Use your best-performing social videos. Check your TikTok and Instagram analytics. The videos with the highest engagement on social will likely perform best as shoppable video too.
- Tag your best-selling products first. Products that already convert well from static pages will convert even better with video support.
- Drive traffic intentionally. Share a link to your page with the shoppable widget in your email newsletter, social media posts, and ads. More eyes on the widget means a faster first sale.
- Test the stories format. If the carousel is not generating enough engagement, try switching to the stories widget type. Stories have the highest tap-through rates across all widget formats.
Scaling Beyond Your First Widget
Once you have validated the impact with your first widget, the path to scaling is straightforward. Import more video content on a regular schedule — ideally weekly. Expand widget placement to additional pages: product pages, collection pages, blog posts, and your about page. Experiment with different widget types to see which format your audience prefers.
As your video library grows, Byvano's analytics will reveal patterns: which video styles drive the most revenue, which products sell best through video, and which page placements generate the highest engagement. Use these insights to refine your content strategy and maximize ROI.

You Are Live — Now Let the Data Guide You
Congratulations. If you followed this guide, you now have a live shoppable video widget on your ecommerce store. The setup is complete, but the optimization journey is just beginning. Watch your analytics, learn what works, and iterate. Most merchants see their first shoppable video sale within the first week — many within the first 48 hours.
The brands that see the biggest results from shoppable video are the ones that treat it as an ongoing channel, not a one-time experiment. Keep importing fresh content, keep tagging products, and keep expanding your widget placements. The compound effect of shoppable video builds over time, and every week you are live is a week of data that makes your store smarter and more effective.
