Hashtag
Also known as: #tag
A keyword prefixed with # that groups posts under a searchable topic across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn.
In detail
A hashtag is a user-created topic marker on social platforms. Discovery depends on tag choice: a tag that is too broad (#fashion) is drowned out by millions of posts; a tag that is too narrow has no audience. Byvano's AI drafts suggest a tag mix of 3–5 narrow (<100K posts), 3–5 mid (100K–1M), and 1–2 broad hashtags per post, which matches the pattern that outperforms single-tier mixes in Instagram's own creator research.
Examples
- A sustainable swimwear brand uses #recyclednylon (narrow), #sustainableswim (mid), #beachstyle (broad) rather than only #swimwear.
