Video commerce
Video commerce
Also known as: V-commerce
Selling through video — using video as the primary discovery and conversion surface instead of static product imagery.
In detail
Video commerce is a merchandising model where video is the main way shoppers discover, understand, and buy products on a store. It includes shoppable video widgets on the storefront, live-shopping streams, user-generated content republished with product tags, and short-form social clips (Reels, Shorts, TikToks) brought on-site. For most Shopify and WooCommerce stores the entry point is shoppable video — short clips the brand already produces for Instagram, re-used on product pages with the item tagged.
Examples
- A DTC skincare brand replaces its hero image with a 15-second routine video, tagged with the three products shown.
- A homeware store runs a live-shopping event once a month; viewers click products on-screen and the cart updates in real time.
